This was such a fun course to make with David. He makes floating look so easy it gives you great confidence in the possibility that it can be achieved. We originally made this course as a pdf and I have now converted it to an online course for more easy access. The principle has remained the same, which is to raise money to go to the welfare of animals in Goa, India. 100% of all donations go to the selected charity Worldwide Veterinary Service India. There are no admin fees, set up costs or anything else bizarre. Everything you donate gets given! We have already raised and delivered 40,000 INR (about £470). That is a lot of treatments for the dogs, cats monkeys and cows. They even treated a porcupine last year 🙂
So what is this course all about?
Well if you don’t know what floating is then you probably best to keep in the dark because once you know then you are going to want to try it and then the hard work will begin. If you want a preview here is David in action.
Each lesson covers one of the floating transitions, jump back from standing, jump forward to standing, jump back from seated and jump forward to seated. Then the last lesson takes Janushirshasana as an example as to how you might adjust the jump for each side when doing an asymmetric posture. For each lesson there is a video demonstration of the transition and then pictures and and text about the main points to be thinking about. Here are some pages from the original pdf that will give you the idea.
Now floating is not by any means a necessity for an established practice and there may even be some body types or dispositions where floating might be actively discouraged, but if you want to add a more dynamic quality to your practice then it will certainly do that. The main thing to remember is not to overdo it to start with. The intensity of your practice may increase dramatically when you first start to actively work on floating and this may become quite tiring during or even after practice. So take it slow, gradually build up how much you do and certainly don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get the hang of it straight away. Enjoy
